Carolyn Sundy is a native of Harlan, County and presently serves as Vice President of Diversity/Inclusion and Special Programs and hold the rank of Professor at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. Presently a PhD candidate in Community College Leadership at Mississippi State University, M.S. in Higher Education Administration, and B.S. Allied Health Education from the University of Kentucky. She received an Associates of Science degree from Southeast Community College. She has presented workshops at the national, regional and state conferences. She has served as President of the KAEOPP - Kentucky Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel, SAEOPP - Southeast Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel Executive Board, and KABHE - Kentucky Association of Blacks in Higher Education, President. Served on statewide boards Appalachian Regional Healthcare Board of Trustees, Kentucky State Board of Proprietary Education, African American Heritage Council (Governor Appointed), and Eastern Kentucky Leadership Executive Board. She serves on the KCTCS Diversity Team. She has successfully written grants and assisted with grant writing, receiving funding over the years for millions of dollars. She has received awards from KABHE for Leadership, KAEOPP for Dedication and Leadership, the President’s award from the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce., Harlan County Woman of the Year, Bell County Race and Education Annual Community Citizen Award and the 2014 Berea College Service Award.
