Nominations Open for the 2024 East Kentucky Leadership Foundation Awards

Corbin, KY (February 1, 2024) – The East Kentucky Leadership Foundation (EKLF) is now seeking nominations for its annual awards program, which honors outstanding leaders throughout the region who go above and beyond to make a difference in their communities. The awards ceremony will be held Thursday, April 25 at The Pennington, in Corbin, Kentucky at 6:00 p.m.

Nominations are open for the following categories:

  • Cultural/Arts: Recognizes outstanding contributions to the advancement of culture and arts in the region.

  • Media & Technology: Recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of news publication, broadcasting, technological innovation, and/or digital communication.

  • Public Individual: Recognizes an individual whose public service is dedicated to the betterment of the region.

  • Private Individual: Recognizes an individual whose private service is dedicated to the betterment of the region.

  • Organization: Recognizes groups that have organized to provide a needed service to the region.

  • Youth Leadership: Recognizes a young person in Eastern Kentucky who has demonstrated excellence in leadership and service to the region.

  • The Carolyn Sundy Award: Recognizes an East Kentuckian who has made an extraordinary contribution to understanding, inclusion, and social justice in the region.

  • Tony Turner Award: Recognizes an individual, group, or organization that has demonstrated major contributions to the betterment of the region.

To nominate someone for an EKLF award, please email ekyleadershipawards@gmail.com with the nomination and include a brief description of the nominee’s accomplishments and why they deserve to be recognized by February 20, 2024.

The EKLF awards program is a significant opportunity to celebrate the many outstanding leaders who are making a difference in Eastern Kentucky. We encourage everyone to nominate someone who they believe deserves to be recognized.

This year’s conference theme is Comeback Communities: Housing and Redevelopment Strategies and will be held at The Pennington on Thursday, April 25 and Friday, April 25. The two-day event will bring together community leaders and stakeholders to discuss innovative approaches for revitalizing Eastern Kentucky’s housing landscape and fostering vibrant, sustainable communities.
