Peter Hille

Peter Hille has been President of the Mountain Association since 2015, having joined the staff in 2012 as Executive Vice President after nine years on the board. The Mountain Association is a 45 year-old nonprofit working to build a new economy for Eastern Kentucky. During his tenure, Peter has helped expand Mountain Association’s work in many ways, including lending innovations, a New Energy Intern program and solar financing that makes solar more accessible to businesses and organizations in the coalfields of Appalachia. Previously, Peter was Director of the Brushy Fork Institute of Berea College, working in leadership and community development throughout Central Appalachia for 22 years. He lives with his wife in a solar home they designed and built on fifty acres of forest near Berea, Kentucky.
